The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has turned down the plea for a three-week extension by Sadiya Umar-Farouq, urging her to promptly appear before its team within three days for interrogation or face potential declaration as a wanted individual.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Umar-Farouq, through her counsel, requested a three-week delay citing health concerns in a letter delivered on Wednesday. However, the EFCC expressed its inability to postpone the investigation, stipulating a three-day window for the former minister to present herself or face the risk of being declared wanted.

Speaking on the matter, an EFCC representative highlighted advancements in their procedural system, ensuring individuals can engage with EFCC investigators and return home on the same day. Assuring cooperation, the spokesperson emphasized readiness to provide any necessary medical assistance using their top-notch facilities.

“We anticipate her presence; our team stands prepared. Even in case of medical requirements, we are fully equipped to offer our premier healthcare services,” the spokesperson stated, seeking compliance without causing undue concern or panic.
