A meeting of former presidential hopefuls on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been postponed indefinitely.
Nicolas Felix, former presidential hopeful, said this in a terse message on Wednesday – the day the meeting was scheduled to take place in the federal capital territory (FCT).
“Please be informed that the strategic meeting of 2023 Presidential Aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, scheduled to hold on Wednesday the 31st of August has been postponed,” the pastor said.
“A new date for the meeting will be communicated soon. Apologies for any inconvenience(s) that this might cause.”
There is speculation that some of the ex-presidential hopefuls did not show interest in the meeting, suggesting that there might still be disgruntled chieftains in the rank of the party.
In a statement last week, Felix said the meeting was aimed at working out a strategy for the victory of the APC at the 2023 polls.
According to him, the meeting also seeks to address the challenges confronting the country.
In June, Tinubu polled more than a thousand votes to clinch the party’s presidential ticket.
Some of those who contested the ticket are Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Senate President Ahmad Lawan; Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation, and Ogbonnaya Onu, former minister of science and technology.
Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi; Dave Umahi, governor of Ebonyi; Abubakar Badaru, governor of Jigawa; Ben Ayade, governor of Cross River, and Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti, were also in the race.
