In a bid to ensure food sufficiency in the state, former governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Orji Uzor Kalu has distributed bags of fertilizer and spraying machines to farmers in his constituency.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony on Wednesday, Kalu, who is the Chief Whip of the Senate, said the gesture was to support the famers to enhance maximum yield this farming season.
He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items in order to increase their yield and boost food security in the zone and Nigeria at large.
”Once you demonstrate your commitments and directly use the inputs given to you to achieve its intended purpose, you will get more from us.
”We are eager to see the impacts of this intervention we are giving you which would have greater positive impacts on your wellbeing, family, state and Nigeria at large,” Kalu said.
Chief Kalu Kalu, a beneficiary from Bende Local Government Area, appreciated Senator Kalu for his consistency in supporting Abia North farmers.
He commended Kalu for demonstrating high level of competence, ability and confidence in carrying out his assignment as the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District.
